Jimmy was saved in 1958 and Maggie experienced the new birth in 1977. They actively served in Calvary Baptist Church of Lewisville. In 1976 Jimmy made a mission trip to Mexico with his pastor and 3 other men from the church. In 1977 the Lord called him to full time service. He and Maggie started attending Seminary classes at the Arlington Baptist College. In 1979 they moved to Monterrey, Mexico and become the first missiology students to enroll in such a program. The Nelson family served as missionaries to Mexico for
eleven years. They served in
Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Jimenez Chihuahua, and Cd. Obregon Sonora Mexico. While in Mexico mission churches and seminaries were
started. In 1985 they returned for
furlough, but through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Jimmy accepted the
pastorate of Green Acres Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas. In 1994 Jimmy and Maggie returned to
mission work. Jimmy presently serves as the Director of Landmark Mission
Projects, a local church ministry.
Maggie also works in the L.A.M.P. office. Their Purpose and
Goal is to help
Missionaries and National Pastors establish indigenous, local, New Testament
Baptist Churches. Since 1996 work trips have been made to Brazil, Honduras,
Malawi, Mexico, and Thailand. In
Brazil, several Bible Institutes and a video studio were established. In Honduras a video studio was setup and
men trained. In Malawi, we organized
the Landmark Baptist Church of Nataja.
From this church 32 others have been organized. The Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary
of Malawi, an extension of L.B.T.S. of Forth Worth now has 3 student families
enrolled. On a mission trip to Cd.
Obregon the Seminary that Jimmy started there was setup as an extension of
the Seminary here in Fort Worth. In
1997 Jimmy, his pastor, and two other preachers, visited a missionary in Chaing-Mai.
While there the church in Pa-Sac was organized. Since that time several other churches have been started and
organized. A Seminary extension was
also established in Chaing-Mai. New
Bible Institutes are being sent to missionaries in countries around the
world. Seminary extension have also
been established in the Brazil, The Dominican Republic, Greece, Guatemala,
Honduras, Mexico, Peru, The Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, and the
United States. The Nelsons are available to speak in mission conferences, or present their ministry churches as they need to increase their monthly support |
